5 Quick Personal Development Reads

It's only fair the first article of the year would be dedicated to books. But I'd be lying if I said that 2020 was a year full of reading for me. I definitely suffered a few reading slumps and haven't read as much as I would have loved to. And that's the reality of being [...]

What I Learnt from Starting a YouTube Channel

In the summer, I started a YouTube Channel. I had been thinking about it for a while, wanting to bring to life the content that I was sharing in here and eager to learn about a different digital platform. So when March hit, lockdown struck and we were all confined to our homes for the [...]

Personal Growth Notes - 20s edition 💫 Super ex Personal Growth Notes - 20s edition 💫

Super excited to have @Iamgabymendes joining me for a chat about investing in your personal development in your 20s.

Gaby is an award-winning blogger and podcast host, and the founder of @talktwenties - the platform we all wish we had as soon as our twenties started.

We'll talk about what personal development can do to support you when starting the journey as an adult, what things are worth investing in (and what may not be) and share our experience of personal development.

I hope you'll join us on Monday at 6:30pm & make sure you share this with anyone else who may be interested! 🙂
Personal development 💫 I've been talking Personal development 💫

I've been talking a lot about personal growth lately and it's because I wish I had learnt about it sooner.

It's in the work, but your development is a personal journey and it will be different for each of us.

And so will be the areas you decide to focus on.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to growth but I thought I'd share some of the areas that I have been working on in the past few years:

▪️ Physical health
▪️ Mental health
▪️ Financial wellbeing
▪️ Spiritual wellbeing
▪️ Education
▪️ Career/Business

Although I don't work on each of these all the time, they are pillars with which I often 'measure' my personal growth.

I know that if I take care of these areas of my life consistently, I will feel and be better.

When needed I ask for help or invest in resources to help me (more on that soon).

Personal development doesn't have to be a struggle and you need to think about what areas you can take on by yourself and which ones you may need a little help with.

I would love to know if any of these pillars resonate with you or if you have different areas that you are currently dedicating your energy to. 👇🏻

I've loved sharing more about my personal development journey and advice in here, but I want to open up the conversation and focus on specific tips & tools for personal development.

So I'm very excited to be joined by my brilliant coach @juliettrippevents on Monday 1st March for a chat about investing in your personal development!

In this first live, we'll focus on coaching, looking at how this can help you accelerate your growth, how to find a coach or programme that works for you and sharing our own experience with this.

If you've been thinking about ways to start your personal development journey or need some motivation to keep going, mark your calendars and join us at 5:30pm!

See you there? 💕
Essentialism 📚 I'm a big believer that it's a Essentialism 📚

I'm a big believer that it's all about finding & reading the right book at the right time for you. This was it for me.

In Essentialism, Greg McKweown shares how pursuing less leads to better outcomes. In every aspect of your life.

When I turned to page 6, I knew I was onto to a winner (swipe to see).

For anyone who doesn't immediately spot it, that's the same amount of energy 🤯

I have to be honest, as someone who's career oriented and extremely driven, I have always embraced the mantra that more was more.

More experience, more contacts, more time to work on something, more projects.

But doing more doesn't mean that you are doing the right things for you. I often ended up losing focus and feeling extremely overwhelmed which obviously doesn't lead to great results.

We can either trying everything till something sticks or we can take our time to understand what we want to make stick and focus our attention on it to find a way to make it so.

This book is divided into 4 parts each dedicate to help with that:

▪︎ Essence - sharing the core mind-set of an Essentialist
▪︎ Explore - discerning the trivial many from the vital few
▪︎ Eliminate - cutting out the trivial many
▪︎ Execute - how to make the vital things almost effortless

It has some brilliant real life examples and shares experiences from leaders in different fields, which is something that I LOVE. Who doesn't want to be reminded of others who have successfully walked the same path?

It's only the beginning of the year, but I can already tell you this is going to be one the most portant books of 2021 for me and one that I will pick up again.

If you'd like to get a copy & support me, I've shared links to @bookshop & amazon (I know some of you prefer it) in my bio.
Progress your career 💫 It's difficult to know Progress your career 💫

It's difficult to know what to do when you're trying to take the next step in your career. Nobody really tells you what the path is and we're often left trying to figure out what would get us to that promotion.

Each situation is unique, but these are some areas that you can start working on today to help you take that next step.

▪︎Confidence - this is a big one. You need to be able to feel confident in yourself and your work, or how else do you expect orhers to do that? If you don't know where to start, you can try to share your opinion on a project in that meeting that you never speak at because it's full of senior people (we've all been there).

▪︎Leadership - a common misconception is that leadership only comes with seniority. In reality, you can be a leader and be the most junior person in the room. Understand your leadership style and find a way to channel it at work.

▪︎Problem solving - the biggest difference I felt when going from executive to manager was the realisation that I was expected to have solutions, not problems. I learnt quickly to go to my boss for an opinion, not for their solution to my question. You can practice this now by making sure for every issue you come up against, you have a think about few solutions before speaking with your manager.

▪︎Prioritisation - managing your time effectively will set you apart. Not many people can do this, but if you show efficiency and an ability to recognise what the priorities of the business are, you'll be a step ahead of everyone else.

▪︎Collaboration - let me be clear, this isn't just about working with your favourite pal at work. This is about finding news ways to deliver your results and connect with others (whether you like them or not).

There is no one way path to getting a promotion or progressing your career, but I hope these tips will help you make a little plan if you've been feeling a bit lost.

If you're interested in 121 career sessions with me to help you accelerate your progression or create a personalised career plan, drop me a DM and we can have a chat 😊
Don't settle. At work, but also in life, in your Don't settle.

At work, but also in life, in your relationships and in everything that you do.

Find that thing that gets you excited.

Find something that brings you joy and energy.

You'll start to notice the difference.

I always thought I wasn't a morning person till one day I found myself at 4:30am eating breakfast at Heathrow airport (oh the memories) waiting for the first flight of the day.

I was laser focussed on my task, I didn't even notice my colleague arriving.

I was in the zone.

I wasn't tired, sleepy or stressed. I was present and excited for a day I had been working towards for a while.

Sure, there were things I had to do that weren't so fun as well, but there was at least one thing that I loved doing.

Find one thing that you love doing and do it every single day.

If you don't know what that is, keep looking, trying, experimenting.

Don't settle.
